Basil Price is a Lecturer and Research Fellow affiliated with the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of York and the CMRS-Centre for Early Global Studies at UCLA. He earned his PhD in Medieval Studies from the University of York in 2024, alongside a B.F.A in Art and Technology, a B.A in Medieval Studies, and an M.A in Medieval Studies from the University of Oregon and University of York, respectively.

His research bridges Old Norse-Icelandic literature, postcolonial theory, and queer embodiment. Current projects include a monograph analyzing late medieval Icelandic sagas through premodern colonialism and another exploring racialized and trans* embodiment in Old Norse texts. He also serves as an Associate Editor for Medieval Feminist Forum.
Recent publications focus on queer utopias, postcolonial resistance, and racial representation in Norse literature. Awards include the Debbie White Gender and Medieval Studies Student Essay Prize and the Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarship.

Basil has taught Old Norse modules and coordinated critical theory reading groups at the University of York, and previously instructed English and writing courses at Arizona State University. He contributes to academic discourse through invited talks on Viking Studies, gendered mobilities, and queer medieval theory.
