Bas ter Haar Romeny is a Full Professor of Ancient Mediterranean and Middle Eastern History at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Faculty of Humanities, Dept. AHA). He leads the Amsterdam Peshitta Institute, focusing on Syriac biblical texts and cultural heritage. His research bridges philology, archaeology, and social sciences, emphasizing cultural memory and minority identities in Late Antiquity.
