Bas Ketsman is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, affiliated with the Software Languages Lab. His research focuses on modern, scalable big data systems, particularly on query processing with formal optimality guarantees, high-availability transaction processing, and querying linked data on the web.
- Education: PhD in Computer Science from Hasselt University (2017) under advisor Frank Neven, postdoctoral research at EPFL (2018–2019), and internships at University of Washington (Seattle, Madison).
His recent work explores robustness in transaction systems, isolation level allocation, and distributed query processing. He has authored numerous publications in top-tier venues like ACM SIGMOD, PODS, and ICDT, with several receiving best paper and distinguished dissertation awards.
