Barış BAYRAK is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Kafkas University's Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. He has been serving in this position since 2023, following his appointment as a Research Assistant at both Kafkas University and Atatürk University from 2016 to 2023. His academic career demonstrates a strong commitment to civil engineering education and research, with a particular focus on sustainable construction materials and structural analysis.
Dr. BAYRAK completed his educational journey at Atatürk University, earning his BSc in Civil Engineering (2008-2012), followed by a Master's degree in Construction (2012-2015), and finally his PhD in Construction (2016-2022). His academic foundation at Atatürk University has provided him with a solid background in civil engineering principles and practices.
His research primarily focuses on reinforced concrete structures, construction materials, and engineering design, with a growing emphasis on geopolymer concrete technology. Dr. BAYRAK's work explores innovative applications of sustainable materials in construction, including waste recycling techniques and the development of eco-friendly building composites. His research interests span structural analysis, earthquake engineering, and the mechanical properties of advanced construction materials.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on geopolymer concrete research, with particular attention to fiber reinforcement, waste material utilization, and high-temperature performance. His work demonstrates a consistent trend toward sustainable construction solutions, investigating how industrial byproducts and waste materials can be effectively incorporated into construction materials without compromising structural integrity.
Dr. BAYRAK actively supervises graduate students, with five Master's theses completed or in progress between 2023-2024. His research is supported by multiple projects, including two where he serves as Principal Investigator on studies examining hybrid fiber effects in geopolymer concrete and structural behavior under various loading conditions.
He has been involved in numerous academic committees, particularly serving as a jury member for doctoral and master's thesis defenses at both Atatürk University and Erzurum Technical University. His professional memberships include the Turkish Earthquake Engineering Association (since 2021) and the Chamber of Civil Engineers (since 2012), reflecting his commitment to professional development and industry engagement.
