Dr. Bartosz Sobczyk serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Strength of Materials within the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology. His research focuses on structural integrity assessment of civil infrastructure with emphasis on bridge engineering and computational mechanics.
Research interests include:
- Structural engineering of cable-stayed and masonry arch bridges
- Failure analysis of aging infrastructure
- Computational modeling using finite element methods
- Biomechanical validation of arterial tissue properties
Recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate consistent output in structural failure analysis, particularly examining cable-to-girder connections in Bydgoszcz's cable-stayed bridge, diagnostics of 40-year-old railway viaducts, and computational modeling of historic masonry bridges. His work integrates non-destructive testing with advanced simulation techniques, while extending methodologies to biomedical applications like carotid artery analysis.
