Dr Bartosz Macikowski is an Assistant Professor at Gdańsk University of Technology's Department of History of Architecture and Conservation of Monuments, Faculty of Architecture. His research focuses on Baukultur, digitalization in architectural design, and the intersection of craftsmanship with modern urban challenges. He co-leads the BuildDigiCraft project (EU-funded ERASMUS+) addressing high-quality Baukultur in the digital age, and manages the BeInterBaltic initiative promoting interdisciplinary education in the Baltic Sea Region.
Key research interests include the cultural landscape of border regions, modernist architectural heritage (e.g., Bauhaus legacy), and sustainable urban mobility solutions. His recent work explores how digital tools can enhance collaborative design processes while preserving cultural values. He has published extensively on topics like hybrid urban mobility, architectural education challenges, and the historical analysis of interwar border dynamics.
Prof. Macikowski is actively involved in exhibition curation, notably organizing Bauhaus 100th-anniversary exhibitions at Gdańsk Tech. His projects emphasize policy recommendations for academia and urban planners, advocating for adaptive design methodologies that balance digital innovation with traditional craftsmanship.
