Fr. Bartholomew Hutcherson, O.P., known as Fr. Bart, is an Adjunct Professor and Dominican Friar who teaches homiletics at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology. He serves as the Pastor of the Catholic Community at Stanford University (CC@S) since July 2024, succeeding a long-term predecessor. His ministry combines storytelling, retreats, pilgrimages, and liturgical preaching, rooted in Catholic theology and Sacred Scripture. Fr. Bart previously worked as an Itinerant Preacher, delivering missions and retreats nationwide, and has engaged in youth and young adult ministry throughout his career.
His research and teaching focus on the intersection of Scripture, liturgy, and Catholic ecclesiology. He frequently draws on St. Luke’s Gospel, the Letter to the Ephesians, and Vatican II documents to explore themes like the Church’s theology and the role of the Eucharist. He has also organized virtual pilgrimages and theological reflections via social media and video platforms.
Fr. Bart resides at St. Albert’s Priory in Oakland, CA, and his work bridges campus ministry with academic instruction, emphasizing community engagement and sacramental life.
