His research focuses on cloud-scale to mesoscale atmospheric processes, with emphasis on:
- Glaciogenic cloud seeding for snowfall enhancement
- Boundary-layer circulations over complex terrain
- Radar fine-line dynamics in pre-convective environments
- Orographic precipitation microphysics
- Cold-air outbreaks over marine and northern regions
The 15 most recent publications (2025) span topics including CAESAR campaign polar low analysis, cold-air outbreak cloud transitions, and advanced radar-based cloud seeding studies. These works primarily address Arctic meteorology, cloud microphysics, and mesoscale dynamics.
Scientific recognition includes:
- Fellow of the American Meteorological Society
- 2012 IMPACT Award (National Institutes for Water Resources)
- 2014 Faculty Senate Speaker Award (University of Wyoming)
- 2018 Peter V. Hobbs Lecture Award (University of Washington)
