Dr. Barry Whitworth is a Senior Lecturer and Senior Extension Specialist in the Department of Animal & Food Sciences at Oklahoma State University (OSU). He holds dual appointments with OSU Extension, focusing on Food & Animal Health. Previously, he practiced as a mixed-animal veterinarian for 24 years before joining OSU in 2014 as an Area Food/Animal Quality and Health Specialist. Since 2023, he has served as the State BQA (Beef Quality Assurance) Coordinator and leads educational programs for livestock producers.

Research Interests: Dr. Whitworth specializes in animal health extension, biosecurity, livestock disease management, and producer education. His work emphasizes practical solutions for challenges like bovine viral diarrhea, foot rot, and avian influenza prevention. He develops hands-on programs such as the Calving Time Management course, using tools like the Hereford Dystocia Simulator to train producers in difficult birth management.
