Barry Goodell is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and serves as a LINXS Fellow. He actively contributes to the Environment and Climate Theme International Advising Committee, specifically within Working Group 3 focused on Nutrient cycles and land-water interactions.
His research spans critical environmental science domains:
- Environmental Microbiology investigating microbial processes in ecosystems
- Biogeochemical cycling of nutrients across terrestrial and aquatic systems
- Land-water interface dynamics affecting water quality and climate feedbacks
- Climate change impacts on biogeochemical processes
- Microbial mediation of nutrient fluxes in changing environments
Through LINXS, Professor Goodell participates in international neutron and x-ray science collaborations advancing environmental and climate research, particularly in understanding complex nutrient pathways connecting terrestrial and aquatic systems under global change scenarios.
