Barry G Green is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on sensory perception, particularly the role of flavor in tobacco products and e-cigarette use. He holds a PhD from Indiana University and has conducted postdoctoral research at Princeton University and The John B. Pierce Laboratory.
Dr. Green’s work bridges neuroscience and public health, investigating how flavor influences nicotine perception and youth susceptibility to e-cigarette use. Recent studies include analyzing 'ice' flavor elements in e-cigarette marketing and sex differences in flavor appeal among adult smokers. He is affiliated with the Yale Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science, supported by a $20M federal grant, and leads the Oral and Cutaneous Sensitivity Lab at the John B. Pierce Laboratory.
His publications span sensory neuroscience, flavor chemistry, and tobacco regulation, with contributions to Drug and Alcohol Dependence and Preventive Medicine. He collaborates closely with researchers like Dr. Suchitra Krishnan-Sarin and Dr. Danielle Davis on multidisciplinary projects addressing addiction science and health policy.
