Barry Costanzi is an Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Carleton College, where he has been since 2017. His research focuses on magnetic materials, noise in mesoscale systems, and nanomaterial characterization. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Minnesota and teaches courses such as Solid State Physics, Electronics, and Directed Research in Physics.
His work explores S-shaped magnetic configurations in permalloy particles and emergent noise phenomena in nanomagnetic systems. Key contributions include studies on 1/f noise in ensembles of oscillating magnetic dots and gas-assisted nanopatterning techniques.
Recent courses include PHYS 354 (Solid State Physics) and PHYS 343 (Electronics and Lab). His research has been featured in journals like Applied Physics Letters (APL) and Physical Review Letters (PRL).
