Barney Luttbeg is a Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at Oklahoma State University since July 2025 (present), previously serving as Associate Professor from 2014-2023. He holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of California, Davis (1997) and a BA in Biological Sciences from UC San Diego (1991).

Luttbeg's research focuses on behavioral ecology, predator-prey interactions, and endocrine flexibility. His work spans diverse systems including freshwater snails, grassland birds, and American bison. Key themes include transgenerational plasticity, hormonal regulation, and landscape-scale ecological modeling.
His recent publications examine climate extremes on biodiversity, pyric herbivory in rangelands, and communication networks in acoustic species. He leads the Luttbeg Lab, which investigates environmental assessment and adaptive responses, particularly in Physa acuta snails.
