Barnaby Norris

Barnaby Norris is a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney, working within the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on astrophotonics, exoplanet imaging, and high-contrast astronomical instrumentation. He is involved in developing advanced photonic technologies such as photonic lanterns and nullers to improve ground-based telescope capabilities.

His work includes experimental measurements of optical systems and collaborations on projects like SCExAO, a testbed for high-contrast imaging technologies. Norris has contributed to grants such as the ARC Future Fellowships and the milli-arcsecond imaging initiative (Heimdallr). His research addresses challenges like atmospheric turbulence correction and photon noise limitation in telescope systems.

Key projects include the development of a sensor to decipher stellar 'twinkle' effects, enhancing exoplanet detection, and advancing adaptive optics for Extremely Large Telescopes (ELTs).
