Barbe Fogarty, DSW, MSW, MEd, is an Instructor in the Department of Social Work at Kutztown University. She holds a Doctor of Social Work from Kutztown (2020), a Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a Master of Education from the University of Turabo (Puerto Rico), and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Mary’s College.
Her teaching focuses on Macro Social Work, Community Organizing, Social and Economic Justice, and Service-Learning. Research interests include disasters/disaster recovery, social media analysis, discourse analysis, and qualitative inquiry. Dr. Fogarty has extensive experience in community-based organizations since 1986, including roles as a community organizer, re-entry program manager, GED/ESL instructor, and YouthBuild program director in Reading, PA.
She has also taught as adjunct faculty at Saint Joseph’s University, Alvernia University, and Albright College. No specific awards or publications are listed, though her work emphasizes applied social justice and community resilience.
