Barbara Wise is an Associate Professor in the Division of Nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University's School of Integrated Health. She serves as the PYC coordinator for Ohio and Kentucky and holds leadership roles including vice president of Eta Chi, the university's Sigma Theta Tau chapter. With 20 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner and 30 years as a Registered Nurse, her clinical experience spans community health centers, prisons, and school-based care.
Her education includes a Ph.D. from Ohio State University (2015), an FNP-BC from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2008), and a BSN from Eastern Kentucky University (1984). Her research focuses on ADHD's impact on child/adolescent social development, clinical nursing education, and social network analysis related to adolescent smoking initiation. She also explores interventions like interprofessional poverty simulations to enhance healthcare education and collaboration.
Dr. Wise’s work emphasizes bridging gaps in healthcare accessibility for impoverished populations and fostering interprofessional teamwork. Her studies on ADHD’s behavioral and social implications highlight prevention strategies for at-risk youth.
