Barbara Wild

Barbara Wild is a Professor at the Faculty of Environmental Design Therapy, Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences (HfWU), specializing in the psychotherapeutic and psychological foundations of artistic therapies. She has held this position since 2020 and also operates a private practice in Stuttgart since 2018.

• Specialist in neurology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy since 1995, 1996, and 2001 respectively
• Habilitated in psychiatry and psychotherapy (2003) on emotional contagion
• Former Associate Professor at the Medical Faculty of Tübingen (2008-2020)

Her research spans neurobiology of movement disorders, depression treatment, emotion research, and humor in psychotherapy. She is an expert in functional MRI studies and has authored two specialist books on humor in psychiatry and psychotherapy, with over 15 years of experience investigating joke perception neurobiology and therapeutic applications of humor.

Barbara Wild is actively involved in professional societies, including the German Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (DGPPN) and the International Society for Humor Studies. She also serves as Equal Opportunities Officer at HfWU and has held international teaching roles in Kurdistan, Iraq.
