Barbara Van Noppen

Barbara Van Noppen is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Vice Chair for Faculty Development at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. She co-directs the OCD Treatment and Research Program at Keck Medicine and is an internationally recognized specialist in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and family-based interventions for OCD. Her work spans over 36 years, focusing on developing treatments like Multifamily Behavioral Treatment (MFBT) and the Family Accommodation Scale (FAS). She actively contributes to residency training at LAC+USC and holds leadership roles in professional organizations such as the International OCD Foundation.

Her research interests emphasize OCD treatment innovation, family dynamics in mental health, and advancing behavioral therapies. She serves on editorial boards for OCD-focused journals and has held executive roles in OCD advocacy groups. Dr. Van Noppen’s clinical and academic contributions bridge research, education, and patient care in behavioral sciences.
