Barbara S. White

Dr. Barbara S. White is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of West Florida's Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business. Drawing from over two decades of industry and banking experience with the Colonial Companies, she integrates practical insights into her teaching of Accounting. Her research spans topics such as Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), accounting ethics, financial reporting standards, and taxation.

White's scholarly work focuses on the evolution of REITs, cost implications of accounting standards (SFAS91), ethical business practices, and Non-GAAP disclosures during crises. She has presented these findings at American Accounting Association meetings, with a notable emphasis on empirical analysis and service-learning pedagogy.

Her awards include the Certified Quality Matters Online Instructor designation, reflecting her commitment to teaching excellence. Additionally, she authored the book Family-Career Choices: A Women’s Perspective, addressing gender dynamics in professional and personal life. Outside academia, White has run marathons across all 50 U.S. states and six continents, showcasing her dedication to endurance sports.
