Dr. Barbara Olech is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, University of Białystok. Her research focuses on Polish literature and culture from the Young Poland period (1890-1918) and the 20th-21st centuries, with particular emphasis on women's contributions, the Eastern Borderlands (Kresy) in Polish cultural narratives, and Polish-Jewish artists, especially those active in Israel.
- Member of the Stowarzyszenia 'Wspólnota Polska' (Polish Community Association) promoting Polish literature and language in Belarus and Latvia
- Co-organizer of the Białystok Jewish Culture Festival 'Zachor – Kolor i Dźwięk' (since 2008)
- Co-organizer of the International Scientific Conferences 'Żydzi wschodniej Polski' (Jews of Eastern Poland) until 2017
- Recipient of the 'Chroniąc Pamięć' award for preserving Jewish heritage
Her scholarly work includes publications on Bronisława Ostrowska and Maria Grossek-Korycka, with extensive contributions to collective works in Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, and Israel.
