Barbara Montoya Boix

Barbara Montoya Boix is a Lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands, specializing in Spanish Philology, Modern and Classical Spanish Language. She earned her BA (2019) and MA (2021) in Modern Languages and Literature at UIB, later pursuing a degree in Catalan Language and Literature at the Open University of Catalonia.

• Corpus-based linguistic variation
• Historical linguistics of Spanish
• Sociolinguistic analysis

She contributes to the CAVA research group and participated in the CAFECONMIEL project (PRD2020/50-1) on language contact phenomena.

Teaching involves Oral and Written Expression Techniques across History, Philosophy, and English Studies programs. Her current doctoral work analyzes 300 letters by 17th-century women.
