Barbara Meyer is a Professor at the University of Wollongong, affiliated with the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences. She has held academic positions since 1992, progressing from Lecturer to her current rank. Her research focuses on lipid metabolism, particularly omega-3 fatty acids, with applications in pregnancy, mental health, and clinical nutrition. She earned a BSc (Hons) and PhD from Monash University, specializing in lipid metabolism.
Key research areas include omega-3 benefits for fetal development (e.g., neural tube formation), gestational diabetes management, and omega-3 supplementation’s role in reducing aggression.
