Barbara Meier was a project leader at the Cluster of Excellence 'Religion and Politics' at the University of Münster between 2008 and 2015. She directed research on the Lord's Resistance Army's religious dimensions (2008-2012) and later studied translocal religious ideas in Uganda (2012-2015).
Her work centered on African religious movements, particularly how violence intersects with Christianity in East Africa and how prophetic ideas migrate across communities. She analyzed how local and global religious narratives shape political and social conflicts.
