Barbara Marchetti

Barbara Marchetti is a Full Professor of Administrative Law at the Department of Law, Faculty of Law, University of Trento. She has been a member of the university since 1998, progressing from Research Fellow to Associate Professor and then to Full Professor. She currently serves as the Research Delegate for the Department of Law and is a member of the University's Recruitment and Career Development Committee.

Education:

• PhD in Law, University of Trento (1996) - Thesis: 'The exception of illegitimacy of administrative acts: a comparative investigation (France, EU, United Kingdom and Italy)'
• Law Degree, 110 cum laude, University of Trento (1992)

Research Interests: Professor Marchetti's research focuses on Administrative Law, with special emphasis on EU Administrative Law, Comparative Administrative Law (particularly US), Administrative Procedural Law, and the intersection of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence. Her work explores the dynamics of administrative processes, global administrative law, and the impact of digital transformation on public governance.

Research Projects: She has been actively involved in national research projects (PRIN) from 1998 to 2017, serving as a member and coordinator of the Trento unit. Notably, she coordinated the 2012 PRIN project on 'The Codification of EU Procedures'. Additionally, she leads research groups on 'Pandemia and Democracy' (2020) and 'Artificial Intelligence and Public Administration' (since 2020) under the Astrid foundation.

Advising and Grants: As a Full Professor, Professor Marchetti supervises PhD and Master's students in the Department of Law. She has secured funding through multiple national PRIN grants and leads research initiatives on contemporary administrative law challenges, including projects on pandemic and democracy (2020) and AI in public administration.

Research Groups: She coordinates the subgroup 'Artificial Intelligence and Public Administration' within the Astrid foundation's project on the AI revolution and is a key member of the ReNEUAL research network, contributing to the development of principles for European administrative procedure.
