Barbara Gris is a CNRS Research Fellow at the Jacques-Louis Lions Laboratory, Sorbonne University, Paris, and member of the Inria CAGE research team. Her academic career bridges mathematical theory and biomedical applications through computational anatomy.
Her primary research focuses on shape analysis and image processing, specializing in constrained large deformation models for computational anatomy. Her work integrates sub-Riemannian geometry with practical applications in medical imaging and biological data analysis. Current projects include the Morphometry under constraints initiative funded by Paris City's Emergence(s) program and development of the IMODAL library for deformation modeling.
Her recent publications reveal strong trends in diffeomorphic deformation modeling (70% of recent work), computational anatomy applications (100%), and interdisciplinary collaborations spanning mathematics, computer vision, and neuroscience. Key publication venues include CVPR, SIAM journals, and eLife.
- Supervises PhD candidate Rayane Mouhli (since Dec 2023)
- Leads the Morphometry under constraints project funded by Paris City Emergence(s) program
- Organizes the Shape Analysis Seminar series at Inria Paris
Dr. Gris maintains active laboratory presence through the Jacques-Louis Lions Laboratory and Inria CAGE team, where she develops computational tools like IMODAL for deformation modeling and shape analysis. Her collaborative network spans multiple institutions including ENS Cachan (where she completed her PhD) and international research groups in medical imaging.
