Barbara Emilia Schedel is a Lecturer and vocal instructor at the University of Music Karlsruhe and University of Music Würzburg, specializing in vocal pedagogy and performance. She holds positions in the Voice Department, focusing on methodologies for singing, vocal physiology, and the didactics of music education. Her artistic career spans opera, concert singing, and contemporary music.
Education and training include studies in piano and music education, with mentorships under Charlotte Lehmann, Margreet Honig, Rudolf Jansen, Richard Miller, and Neil Semer. She has performed internationally with orchestras like Staatskapelle Dresden and WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, collaborating with conductors Helmuth Rilling and Patrick Lange.
Research interests center on baroque and classical vocal repertoire, contemporary music premieres, and vocal technique. She has premiered over ten new works, including performances at the Handel Festival Halle and collaborations with the Beijing Opera.
