Barbara Demman

Barbara Demman is a Senior Continuing Lecturer at the UCLA School of Nursing. She specializes in acute care, emergency medicine, and prelicensure nursing education. Her teaching focuses on infection precautions, valvular heart disorders, NCLEX test-taking strategies, and fluid/electrolyte imbalances. She actively contributes to clinical education through partnerships with local hospices and international nurse training programs.

Research & Interests: Demman explores mindfulness-based interventions to combat nurse burnout and compassion fatigue. She has expertise in HIV infection precautions, burns management, and gerontological nursing. Her clinical background includes 9 years in emergency care.

Service: Coordinated community health initiatives in the Dominican Republic (2002-2003) through Interlatin American Concern. Affiliated with Sigma Theta Tau, the California Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Emergency Nurses Association.
