Professor Barbara Barrett is a faculty member at King’s College London, serving as Professor of Health Economics and Deputy Head of the Department of Health Service & Population Research. She is a core member of King’s Health Economics and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

Her research focuses on cost-effectiveness analysis of mental health interventions, particularly those intersecting with physical health, criminal justice systems, and global contexts. She leads projects like STOP-D (Sertraline for post-TBI depression) and The TENDAI Study (HIV and depression in low-resource settings).
Recent publications span topics like economic evaluations in prisons, global mental health in Ghana/Zimbabwe, and cost-effectiveness of MS treatments. She has collaborated on over 132 research outputs, including trials in functional cognitive disorder and antisocial personality disorder.
