Baran Yildiz

Baran Yildiz is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Energy and Environmental Markets (CEEM) and a lecturer at the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) at the University of New South Wales. His research focuses on distributed energy systems, demand response, and smart grid integration. He holds a PhD in load forecasting & smart home energy systems from UNSW.

Research interests include:

• Integration of distributed energy resources
• Demand response and side management
• Smart home energy systems
• Grid-connected PV systems
• Microgrids

Baran leads major projects like SolarShift (RACE for 2030) and Flexible Demand Trial (ARENA), collaborating with industry partners. His work has been featured in AEMC, ESB, CRC, and media outlets.

Publications highlight his expertise in solar-battery systems, EV charging emissions, water heater optimization, and grid constraint mitigation. He teaches SOLA 4012 Photovoltaic Systems Design.
