Baofu Qu

Baofu Qu is a Research Assistant and PhD candidate in the Department of Media and Journalism at Bournemouth University’s Faculty of Media and Communication. Their work focuses on gender diversity, inclusive design, and creative methodologies. They concurrently serve as an Employment Advisor with the National Probation Service and previously supported Higher Education students at Arts University Bournemouth.

Research Focus: Their practice-based PhD research, ‘Visualizing Gender Futures’, explores gender inclusivity in workplaces through creative drawings. They also contribute to the ‘Strength Training Instructional Project’, creating visual representations of underrepresented bodies for inclusive fitness materials. This aligns with UN SDGs including Gender Equality (#5), Industry/Innovation (#9), Sustainable Cities (#11), and Global Partnerships (#17).

Professional Contributions: Advising roles in probation services and higher education, alongside academic research. Current projects emphasize visual storytelling for social equity and sustainable design practices.
