Balázs Varga is a Habil. Associate Professor at the Institute for The Theory of Art and Media Studies under the ELTE Faculty of Humanities. A film historian specializing in Hungarian and Eastern European cinema, he has taught at various Hungarian higher education institutions since 1997. His research focuses on post-socialist film transitions, genre evolution, and cultural memory in film.
