معرفی
Dr. Balal Sadeghi serves as Laboratory Head at the Institute of Novel and Emerging Infectious Diseases (INNT) within the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI) in Greifswald, Germany, leading the Laboratory for applied bioinformatics focused on computational approaches to infectious disease research.
His research centers on bioinformatics applications for emerging infectious diseases, with specialized emphasis on characterizing zoonotic viruses in wildlife reservoirs—including rodents (rats and house mice) and wild birds—to enable early pathogen detection and outbreak management. This work directly contributes to global health security through advanced computational modeling of viral transmission dynamics.
Dr. Sadeghi actively participates in key collaborative initiatives: the Strengthening of the Mauritanian partner laboratory (ONARDEP) for veterinary training in West Africa, the WBA-Zoo and CoRoPa project for wildlife pathogen characterization, and the ISIDORe consortium for infectious disease outbreak research. His laboratory integrates bioinformatics with field epidemiology to address critical gaps in zoonotic disease surveillance.
