Balaji Krishnan

Dr. Balaji Krishnan is an Associate Professor in Neurology at UTMB and holds the Don and Nancy Mafrige Professorship in Neurodegenerative Research. He investigates synaptic mechanisms in neurodegeneration and memory disorders.

His research examines synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer's models, stem cell therapies for diabetes-related neurodegeneration, and phospholipase signaling pathways. Work integrates molecular biology, animal behavior, and therapeutic interventions.

Publications focus on synaptic resilience mechanisms, tau pathology modulation, and metabolic impacts on brain function. Recent articles explore therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders.
