Bahareh Estejab

Bahareh Estejab is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Manhattan University. Her research focuses on renewable energy, multiphase flows, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), with an emphasis on fluidization processes and vortex dynamics. She holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, complemented by postdoctoral research there, and additional degrees from the University of Kentucky and Shiraz University. She teaches courses ranging from introductory engineering to advanced topics like finite element analysis and aerodynamics.

Dr. Estejab’s education includes a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Shiraz University, followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky and Virginia Tech, respectively. She also completed a Computational Fluid Dynamics certificate from the University of Kentucky and a Graduate Certificate in College Instruction from Virginia Tech.

Her research interests span renewable energy technologies, turbulent and multiphase flow phenomena, and CFD modeling. She has contributed to groundbreaking studies on biomass fluidization, vortex wandering in turbulent flows, and drag models for fluidized beds. Her work bridges fundamental fluid mechanics with practical applications in energy systems and manufacturing.

In 2023, she was recognized as an advisor for awards in the NASA Blueskies and FAA competitions. Earlier accolades include the Pratt Fellowship, Fluids Engineering Division Graduate Student Scholarship, and multiple travel grants. She actively promotes engineering education through collaborative projects, including a chapter on energy and environment in a book featuring women in mechanical engineering.

Dr. Estejab has secured grants such as the DENA grant and Manhattan College Summer Grant. Her advising roles have supported student teams in national competitions, reflecting her commitment to fostering the next generation of engineers. She collaborates in interdisciplinary teams focused on sustainable energy and advanced manufacturing technologies.
