Badege Bishaw is a Courtesy Faculty member in the Department of Forest Ecosystems & Society at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry. His research focuses on agroforestry, food security, and integrated watershed management, with emphasis on sustainable production systems and environmental resilience in vulnerable regions like Ethiopia and Kenya.
- Education: B.S. in Plant Science (Addis Ababa University, 1979), M.S. in Tropical Forestry (University of Dresden, 1985), Ph.D. in Forest Resources (Oregon State University, 1993)
Core research interests include mitigating environmental degradation through agroforestry practices, riparian buffer management, and climate-smart agriculture. His work bridges ecological science with socio-economic challenges, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Recent publications emphasize the interplay between food security, watershed health, and climate adaptation strategies.
Bishaw’s publications span agroforestry economics, transboundary water management, and participatory adaptation frameworks. He collaborates with institutions like the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and the Pacific Northwest Agroforestry Working Group to advance applied research.
