B. le Normand is an Associate Professor of History at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Maastricht University. His research focuses on the global history of socialist Yugoslavia, particularly urban planning, migrant workers, and port cities. He leads projects like the Rijeka Fiume in Flux mobile app, exploring contested urban spaces. Key works include Designing Tito's Capital (2014) and Citizens without Borders (2021).
Research interests span Yugoslav modernism, transnational labor migration, and socialist port economies. Current projects analyze Rijeka's 1950s global connections. His publications critique Cold War urbanism, maritime networks, and diasporic identities through interdisciplinary lenses.
Collaborations include digital humanities initiatives and international scholarly networks. Advising and grants focus on public history projects and maritime studies. He actively engages in global history debates through both academic publications and innovative digital platforms.
