معرفی
Benjamin Hamilton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at Western University. His research focuses on biomaterials engineering, wound healing mechanisms, and cell-matrix interactions. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and leads studies on tissue regeneration, particularly in dental and skin tissues. His work integrates advanced biomaterials design, cell signaling pathways, and micro/nano-topographical controls to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
Research interests include the development of scaffolds for periodontal and skin repair, modulation of fibroblast behavior via substratum topography, and the role of matricellular proteins like periostin in fibrosis and healing. Projects span from fundamental cell biology to translational applications in regenerative medicine.
Recent publications highlight innovations in electrospun Galectin-3 scaffolds, FGF/TGF-β growth factor modulation, and lineage tracing studies in palatal development. His studies also investigate vascular responses in ischemic tissues and chronic wound pathophysiology, emphasizing translational approaches to clinical challenges.
Laboratory research is conducted in the Spencer Engineering Building, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration between mechanical engineering, materials science, and biomedical applications. Hamilton's team includes a diverse group of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers working on biomaterials, cell signaling, and tissue engineering projects.
