Laurie Shornick

Laurie Shornick, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Saint Louis University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on neonatal immune responses to respiratory viral infections and impaired wound healing in diabetic patients. She uses mouse models to study immune system maturation and maternal milk's immunomodulatory effects. Her work on diabetic wound healing examines cytokine dysregulation and biomaterials for tissue regeneration.

Dr. Shornick's lab investigates viral immunity in infants, particularly how immature immune systems respond to pathogens. She also explores diabetic wound complications, including cytokine expression patterns and novel wound dressing technologies.
