Azra Meadows is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow's School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine. She has over 30 years of experience in higher education and rural community development projects in Pakistan and other developing nations. Her work focuses on environmental sustainability, disaster preparedness, and community resilience, supported by grants from organizations like DFID, the British Council, and the Scottish Government. She has been recognized with an OBE (2008) for services to community relations and a British Muslim Achievement Award (2002).
Her research emphasizes applied strategies for coastal/marine environment management, biodiversity's role in sediment stability, and sustainable resource use. She has co-authored key publications on marine biogeomorphology and co-edited a disaster preparedness manual.
