Aziz Oukaira

Aziz Oukaira is a Part-Time Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with excellent distinction from the Université du Québec en Outaouais in 2020, followed by an NSERC-THALES postdoctoral fellowship at École polytechnique de Montréal. He currently holds an Associate Professor position in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, while simultaneously teaching at uOttawa.

Research Focus:

Dr. Oukaira’s research spans emerging quantum technologies, microelectronic system design, and thermal management of advanced microsystems including VLSI, SoC, SoP and SiP. He actively investigates embedded systems, FPGA-based rapid prototyping, MEMS fabrication, semiconductor device modeling, and the intersection of machine learning with hardware design. His work also covers theoretical computer science, programming language theory, process control, and fluid-dynamics-informed thermal modeling.

Teaching & Service:

At uOttawa he currently delivers senior undergraduate courses in computer architecture and random signals & systems. Office hours are held weekly on Wednesday mornings in room 139 Louis-Pasteur.
