Azar Eslam Panah is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Division of Engineering, Business & Computing (Penn State Berks). Her work bridges fluid dynamics with bioinspired engineering and creative education initiatives.
- Current research focuses on vortex interactions, leading-edge vortices, and hydrofoil dynamics
- Active in underwater robotics and renewable energy systems through the Integrated Energy Systems theme
- Developed innovative fluid mechanics pedagogy using photography
Recent publications analyze:
- 2024: Vortex gust interactions in bioinspired flapping wings and touchless underwater sensing
- 2023: Photography-based teaching methods
- 2021-2015: COVID-19 transmission modeling, ferrofluid-watercolor mixing, and airfoil/hydrofoil dynamics
Notable projects include coordinating a national art-science exhibition (2023) and securing a Manufacturing PA Initiative grant (2022) for wind turbine research. She contributes to Fluids journal editorial work (2019) and teaches fluid mechanics through interdisciplinary approaches.
