Aynühayat UYBADIN serves as an Assistant Professor at Sakarya University's Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising. She was appointed to this position in 2022, following previous roles as a Research Assistant at Hacettepe University (2015-2019) and Sakarya University (2013-2015). In 2023, she assumed the position of Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communication, demonstrating her growing leadership role within the institution. She has also served as Chair of the Graduation and Grade Control Committee (2021) and as a member of the Erasmus Committee (2021).
Dr. UYBADIN earned her Doctorate in Communication Sciences from Hacettepe University (2014-2021), with a dissertation titled 'Remembering cinema experiences in Turkey in the 1960s and 1970s.' Her academic background is diverse, including a Master's degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Sakarya University (2014), a double major in Philosophy from Kocaeli University (2009), and a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Publicity from Kocaeli University (2008-2012). She also holds degrees in Business Administration from Anadolu University and Public Relations from Kocaeli University's Kandira Vocational School.
Her research focuses on cinema history (particularly Turkish cinema/Yesilcam), audience reception studies, visual culture, and memory studies, with particular attention to gender perspectives. Dr. UYBADIN employs qualitative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches drawing from communication studies, sociology, and cultural studies. Her recent publications reveal a trajectory from historical studies of Turkish cinema toward contemporary viewing practices and digital media, with consistent attention to how social identity shapes media consumption and interpretation.
Analysis of her recent publications (2013-2023) shows a cohesive research program centered on Turkish cinema history, memory, and audience studies. Her work increasingly incorporates interdisciplinary perspectives, particularly through her food anthropology research. Several publications examine gender dynamics in cinema reception, while others explore methodological innovations in using oral history for media research.
