Aymeric Goyer is an Associate Professor (Senior Research) in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University (OSU). He leads the Goyer Lab, focusing on crop gene function related to plant metabolism and plant-microbe interactions to enhance nutritional quality and disease resistance. His work integrates molecular biology, genetics, transcriptomics, and biochemical approaches. Affiliations include the Center for Quantitative Life Sciences and OSU’s main campus. He has held senior research roles at OSU since 2008, including a period at the Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
Education: Ph.D. (Plant Biology, 2001) and M.S. (Molecular and Cellular Plant Biology, 1998) from University of Paris XI, France; B.S. (Chemistry and Plant Biology, 1997) from University of Rennes I, France.
Research interests emphasize improving potato nutritional content (e.g., folate, thiamin, antioxidants) and combating pathogens like Potato Virus Y and Alternaria solani. Recent studies include potassium fertilizer impacts on tuber nutrition, thiamin priming for disease control, and molecular mechanisms of plant defense. His team explores genetic markers in wild potato species for crop improvement.
Publications span over 50 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on plant metabolism, pathogen resistance, and nutritional biofortification. Awards include a travel award from the Potato Association of America (2006) and a French Ministry fellowship (1999).
Advises graduate students in Botany and Plant Pathology, including Keonny Cosek. Engages in outreach via OSU Extension, addressing potato production challenges. Recent grants include NASA funding for studying potato growth in lunar regolith simulant media, advancing space agriculture research.
Labs/Teams: Goyer Lab (focused on crop improvement and pathogen interaction studies).
