Ayman Khattab

Ayman Khattab is an Adjunct Professor of Parasitology at the University of Helsinki, specializing in malaria research for over 20 years. He established a malaria research lab at the University of Helsinki in 2007, focusing on Plasmodium falciparum and Anopheles mosquitoes. His roles include Principal Investigator and supervisor in multiple doctoral programs, including Biomedicine and Population Health.

Research interests center on malaria pathogenesis and control strategies:

• Novel mosquito vector control methods using 3D screen technology
• Immune interactions between mosquitoes and human hosts
• Complement system evasion by P. falciparum
• Surface antigens as virulence factors in malaria parasites
