Dr. Sabyasachi Pradhan is an Affiliate Researcher at the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow. His research focuses on malaria parasite biology, particularly Plasmodium falciparum transmission dynamics and molecular mechanisms governing parasite development in mosquitoes. He investigates novel antimalarial strategies, including drug target validation and vaccine candidate characterization, alongside vector biology and microbial interactions influencing parasite survival.
Key research activities include optimizing in vitro culture systems for transmissible gametocytes, studying mitochondrial pathways critical for sexual stage development, and developing diagnostic tools for antibody fragment stability. His work intersects with biochemical engineering for vaccine production and microbial ecology to identify natural parasite inhibitors.
- Received grant funding: Tenovus Scotland (2022-2023) for lipid supplementation studies in malaria transmission
Collaborative projects involve teams in Ghana, India, and the UK, addressing both basic science and translational aspects of malaria control. His publications span molecular parasitology, immunology, and vector-borne disease mechanisms.
