Aylin Simsir

Aylin Simsir, MD is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She serves as Director of Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology at Tisch Hospital and Perlmutter Cancer Center. Her academic roles include overseeing the Cytopathology Laboratory at 7N. She is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Cytopathology.

Dr. Simsir holds an MD from Istanbul University (1990) and completed pathology residencies at SUNY Stony Brook (1994) and Columbia-Presbyterian (1996). She specialized through fellowships in Oncologic Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering (1997) and Cytopathology at NIH (1998).

Her research focuses on cytopathology applications in oncology, particularly gynecologic, breast, and thyroid pathologies, with emphasis on molecular testing and diagnostic advancements. She contributes to cervical cancer screening and salivary gland tumor classification through multi-institutional studies.
