Dr. Ayesha Hameed is a Senior Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London. She holds a Kone Foundation Research Fellowship (2022-2026) and previously served as Research Fellow at Helsinki Collegium in Advanced Studies. Her interdisciplinary work examines the legacies of slavery and indentureship through Atlantic/Indian Ocean frameworks, employing Afrofuturist approaches across performance, sound art, and film.
Research Focus

- Borders and migration materialities
- Speculative fiction methodologies
She co-directs projects like Black Atlantis (2014-2023), combining monograph research with international exhibitions.
