Ayan Bhattacharya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago, affiliated with the College. His research bridges finance theory, mathematical logic, and microeconomic theory, emphasizing the integration of logical frameworks with economic models. Previously, he served as a Research Advisor at Arrow Markets (a blockchain-focused fintech startup), a faculty member in finance at Baruch College (City University of New York), and a trader at Kotak Securities (Goldman Sachs' former India joint venture), managing structured products.
He holds a PhD in Finance from Cornell University and an MS in Applied Mathematics from Stanford University.
