Aya Fujimura-Fanselow is a Clinical Professor of Law and Supervising Attorney at the Duke International Human Rights Clinic, where she has been affiliated since Fall 2017. Her work centers on human rights advocacy, clinical teaching, and litigation, with a focus on gender, economic and social rights, transitional justice, and criminal justice reform.
- Education: J.D. from Fordham Law School (Stein Scholar in Public Interest Law and Ethics), B.A. with honors from Bryn Mawr College.
Her research and advocacy explore intersections between gender equity, reproductive rights, and systemic human rights violations, particularly in transitional justice contexts and pre-trial detention systems. She has contributed to reports analyzing arbitrary detention practices, emphasizing structural inequalities and international legal frameworks.
