Axel Schmidt

Dr. Axel Schmidt is a Project Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, Germany. His work focuses on biochemical interactions within plant defense mechanisms, particularly in conifer species, and their responses to herbivores, pathogens, and environmental stressors.

Research interests include:

• Plant-aphid and plant-pathogen interactions
• Detoxification processes and mode of action studies
• Conifer defense systems against forest beetles and related pests
